Those adapters don't drop the voltage. They simply make the plug fit in the socket. If the device you are plugging in doesn't specifically say that it works on 240v, I wouldn't try it. Most heating devices are very voltage specific.
I learned this the hard way when I took many of my USA 110v gadgets with me when I went to Cyprus where they have 240v. Some electronic devices like computers and phones and such will work on either voltage. Other more primitive devices like heating elements will not! Always read the labels!!
