ahhh semantics again, i get enough in my bs phil class.
any way, i see why "shisha" for tobacco annoys people, but the modern american use of it is for the tobacco. when im around my friend who is pakistani i use tobacco and hookah as apposed to shisha and hookah because to him shisha mean the pipe (translation according to him it means "glass").
around my friends for the most part i use "shisha" but around middle easterners i use "tobacco" to make sure there is no confusion.
i just think since there is such a wide variety of terms in all this its hard to say one is "correct" or not. its like how we call drinking vessels "glasses" even though they are not always made from glass and use the same word for corrective lenses worn on the face
