This doesn't need to be done with anything but Tangiers because of the type of tobacco that is used to make it. It's a very dark, heavy, black style tobacco. The fact that it is unwashed and contains the amount of nicotine it does also plays a major role.

if you leave tobacco out that has glycerin in it, your tobacco will not dry out very fast at all, as glycerin absorbs moisture from the air - if it does dry out you can just a tiny bit of water, because that's all it's lost.
