Re: Horrible KM experience
A new bowl always has a learning poeriod to figure out what kind of heat capacity the material has and what you need to do with your coals to make it smoke right. It's a lot like smoking a new tobacco. IT takes time and a little practice. I do think that the new rig may have been part of the issue as the increased airflow might have pushed your setup a little toward the hot end of things and burnt a bit. Frankly when I got my KM I had only smoked on a generic Egyptian and a Nour Syrian so the draw was a change but I never had an issue.
When I first got my Tangiers funnel I did have a trial and error period similar to my first time with a hookah or my first time with the vortex later on.
Just keep at it but don't get discouraged.
