Washed is a relative term. Some companies will wash the leaves until there is no trace of nicotine or flavor left. Others will start with a low nicotine leaf and wash a little to maintain flavor. Still further are those that use a higher nicotine leaf with less flavor so they only need to wash a bit and still keep a noticeable amount of nicotine in the final mix.

The numbers on the side of the box or tin is a rough estimation at best. They are not testing every batch to get an exact reading on the nicotine content.

AF can give a buzz. But like with any other tobacco that is in any way washed just take it slow. If you are getting sick that means you are over doing it and smoking too fast.
