There is also a "back" button on your browser window, people should use it when they don't want to answer a question posted by a new member instead of pointing them to do something they probably have already done or are in the process of doing.
I cant speak for Bryan but when I want information I use several sources, forum searching/new posts/google etc. Information can change at anytime or an old post or google site could contain flat out false information and there is nothing wrong with covering all your bases while trying to gather said information.
A forum offers a large database of information but is a community for the reason of updating/editing/gathering new and old information. Repeat questions are a good thing.
If said information was in a recently written/edited sticky then its a bit different.
