It looks like the real thing. We've seen date stamps on our Nakhla stock before (although not in a while).
Personally I think the whole datestamp, freshness thing is silly. As long as the contents aren't exposed to air they could be on the shelves for 12 years for all I care. You're not smoking cottage cheese, so there's really nothing there to get spoiled. The contents are dried tobacco leaves, glycerin, molasses, or honey, and some fruit flavoring drops...what exactly spoils there?
