The lesson learned here - never, ever keep your SS card in your wallet or use your SSN as your driver's license number. It's far easier for someone to commit identity theft if they were to snatch your wallet or purse, because if only credit cards are swiped those accounts can be easily closed out. Having your SS number stolen is a real pain, because the SS office can't rectify it for you. You have to contact your credit card companies, banks, the IRS and the FTC to see if someone is using your SSN against you.
