I can't say i've ever heard of anyone associating rose and cardamon flavours with Nakhla Earl Grey before so your post confuses me. Perhaps you haven't properly identified the flavours? Perhaps you over paked the bowl, used too much heat or have a hold over from something else tainting your rig?
Here is what I suggest you do:
1) clean your rig and hose
2) Use fully lighted natural coals only
3) Try out a good, strong cardamon moassel in a loosely packed bowl making sure that moassel never touches the foil
4) Clean out your rig and hose again
5) Try out a Nakhla Earl Grey in a loosely packed bowl making sure that moassel never touches the foil and see how you like it.
