i don't smoke before i lift. it just makes me feel pretty dizzy and i can't concentrate well. i do personal train though (myself and others) and after a good workout i like to go back and smoke a bowl to just relax myself. im kinda curious what impact that has on my gains since normally slow gradual relaxing is more natural and probably better for you but resting/relaxing in general is good for muscle development (since stress/loss of sleep can hamper gains as well >_<). i don't do much cardio so i can't complain about how smoking has affected that. but i feel like it gives me more of a reward to do a good job in the gym and also helps me sleep better. so i would recommend smoking after but thats just me
