Once the shisha has burnt to the foil, the burnt taste should probably go away, for the most part anyway. If it the taste persists, or it stays harsh, it's probably just too hot.
Try fewer coals, or if you're using a quicklight try shifting it off to the side so it's not entirely on top of the bowl.
I agree with this. Next time it happens, remove the coals from the bowl and wait a minute or so for it to stop burning. Than replace one less coal, so if you started with 3 coals, only put 2 back on. Hope this helps!
