Re: 2 coals, no-go
I've had luck with 2 coals on an egyptian bowl, but a phunnel in my experience requires three coals with most shisha. The compound the bowl is made of tends to spread the heat equally so that the entire bowl heats up, not just the part that holds the tobacco. In the end it means you might have to apply a little bit more heat than usual, but on the other hand heat-sensitive shishas will have less chances of burning.
The only tobacco I've had luck with using 2 coals on a phunnel is Tangiers Lucid. With a wind cover on top.
