fresh, when you're making your tobacco, (i think you said it was Zona) the most important things to me are:
first taste - what it tastes like when you first get it going. if it's fruit, it should taste like you're biting into the fruit
longevity - the taste should last at least an hour. a lot of tobacco keeps the smoke going for an hour and a half, but the flavor only lasts for 15 mins
harshness - a LOT of this has to do with heat management, but some of it is tobacco quality.
smell - even if the tobacco tastes like a naked italian woman covered in chocolate and whipped cream, noone will want to smoke it if the box smells like ass. first impressions last.
don't worry about wetness too much. i, like a lot of people, use a funnel bowl, so the juices will just chill. they won't run down the pipe. (i say this but i just broke my funnel.. lol)
