All coconut coals do this. reason why is that as you smoke, as you inhale... it essentially re-lights itself...slowly. thats why when you notice them turning black you never get a bad coal taste, instead you are treated with good taste.

the only downside is that the bottom will lose heat, meaning as you inhale, all other sides of the coal "re-light". Symptoms are weak clouds, etc.
thats usually the coals way of tellng you to rotate/flip coals.
