We make a lot of home made italian food which often requires bread crumbs. We use the technique to dry out italian bread to turn into crumbs. I just figured I'd give it a shot with coals to see if it would work. I've since used about 9 more coals from the box and all have worked perfectly.
I think as long as you have an oven, it's safe to say there's no such thing as a 'bad' box of coals.
