Moderns Hookahs have what are called a "Common Chamber"
The hose port and the purge valve share the same space, relatively inefficient at removing smoke from the base should it turn harsh or stale.
KMs and other Traditional Egyptian rigs have this kind of chamber :
Where each port has its own dedicated tube, makes it easier to purge smoke from the base, and gives you a smoother draw when inhaling.
