That is really hard actually which is one reason why so many chemists work in the cofectionary and beverage industries. Making something work with tobacco is harder from what i've seen. I know a bit about making your own molasses and on an indivual scale it's pretty labour insensive and not really practical. Anything sugery and stick won't do. Corn syrup, inverted sugar, balcstrap molasses, some treacles and a bunch of other stuff either are two strong, too expensive or don't give good burn/vaporizing perfomance. Honey can work but it doesn't lend much to flavour, is harder to heat precess at home and frankly it doesn't work as well as a carefully chosen molasses.
