The trouble I always have is with the holes on the spire. They get caked with black stuff and steal wool can't get in there to do the trick.

What's actual product you're talking about using? Are you saying to use an oven cleaner, then put it in the oven with the oven cleaner on it? I don't know of any product that does that, but it sounds pretty great!
