That's the trick for me to a great session, keeping it at the point where the clouds are huge but the shisha isn't burning. Personally, I believe anyone can get massive clouds and burn the shisha, but the taste goes downhill quickly.
That's actually the point of searing the top layer (the tobacco that touches the foil) to preserve the tobacco underneath it, if done correctly you'd get the intensity in flavor and smoke, as well as prolong your session.
