Generally nakhla takes heat well, mizo especially. Sweet melon can be finicky especially if you get a drier batch like someone stated initially. Packing it tight is a good solution for a drier batch.
Also, I'd be judicious of the amount of coals, and, LET THE BOWL WARM UP!! It solves a lot of problems especially at the beginning.
