Glycerine is all I use because it does not affect the flavor. I've found that molasses does. It mutes some of the spicier notes of the tobacco. I only add enough glycerine to bring the molasses that is already in the moessel back to a consistency more like it was when it was first packaged. Then I smoke it just like regular Nakhla.
I do this also. I feel the brick of Zag I have has enough molasses in it already, I was actually surprised at the wetness of it. I add just a bit of glycerin, maybe 1/8 teaspoon in about 30gr or so, just enough to make it smoke a bit easier. It smokes okay without the glycerin (I use foil by the way), but adding the glycerin seems to help it get going and uses less heat to keep it going.
