Tombac is great stuff.
One can also smoke it without a bowl... I use this method frequently.
What you do is pull off a good size chunk of the brick, soak it, squeeze it, and pull the stems out as detailed above. Instead of throwing it in a bowl, wrap the leaves around the top of your pipe (No bowl attached) like a giant cigar. Use an Ice pick or kebab skewer to run some holes down the middle, than throw some coal on top and you're ready to go.
