I think he is speaking about what I show in the following pictures. I had this problem too, and yes, it is too much of an incline to put exotica's on without them rolling off. on top of that, since the inclined surface is curved the coal doesn't touch much of it anyways, so it doesn't transfer heat well at all. Personally I just said screw it... but I feel bad for donnie having this problem too. The pic shows a medium sized Phunnel bowl with a Scalli Mod at designed "for Tangiers Phunnel Bowls Fits both the small and medium sized bowls." I'm pretty sure once I'm not lazy for a few hours I'll take a belt sander to it. work it down to the right level. I'll let you guys know how that works out.
