Older tobacco can be "reconstituted". I read a thread on another board. You can mix some fresh molasses, honey, glycerin, etc. and get older tobacco to become moist again, and then it will smoke properly. Tobacco that is dry, will burn at a hotter temperature, and thus the smoke will be hotter.

I must agree, that if the unburned tobacco smells disagreeable in the package, then the smoke will probably be offensive as well. Let us know, how it works out. Thanks.
