If am not mistaken the hoses we have 2day are the evolution of the last 10-20 year in iran and turkey.
Well in the picture they have both a long tube and a hose so I presume that the hose is supposed to attach to it. On older narghiles i've seen long tubes made out various materials but i've never seen that system used with a modern hose. In any case, I have seen (used to have) leather hoses over a hundred years old with wooden tips so while the braided hoses are new hoses in general are not.
You had a hose that was 100 years old? Thats awesome, what did you do with it?
