Default Cleaning a leather hose.

Question: Could a normal hose be washed with high purity ethyl alcohol or some other alcohol that would evaporate rapidly? I know that alcohol is used as a cleaner on parts of machines that can not rust because if it is a high enough concentration there is almost no water to oxidize the metal and it evaporates very quickly.

My only concern is that the use of alcohol would harm the leather.
