Quicklights are usually hard to manage.

Use natural coals, light them first on the stove, then when they are fully cooked (red all around, cracked and red from the inside) break them into little pieces either by tapping them with the tong, or by a hammer.

Put little pieces of coal, pieces should be as little as a bean. put them on the edge of the bowl, not the center, keep rotating them every five minutes and remove the burnt out ones
