The AMA recommends 20 minutes of exercise at target heart rate for cardiovascular benefits > 5x/wk, you are correct. Remember you need a 5 min warmup (to get to that target zone) and cool down period making that 30 min, and to really exercise you need to crosstrain at different intensities and with different modalities- weightlifting to yoga/pilates. If you are young then I definately reccommend more like 40 min... But it's not as easy as a 20 min/day protocol as mentioned, wish it was.
And I do recommend some aerobic exercise if you're feelin short of breath- photol- is right on tho.
