Usually when smoking with quicklights, I'll use two of them evenly spaced on opposite sides of the bowl, hanging about 1/3 off the edge. Then for the second set Ill put the next two QLs in the open spaces and knock the first set off.
Using naturals I use 3 for the first hour, and two for the second.
Seems to do just fine on a standard egyptian bowl with foil.
