Ive been thinking, do you guys think that putting smooth river rocks at the bottom of your bowl could save shisha?
It might also help those people who cant get to the shisha at the bottom.

I have heard of Hookah lounges using the steam stones combined with shisha to save on shisha. I dont think I would use regular non treated river rocks though.

Washed aquarium gravel (rinse it first, only natural color) would be a good choice of medium should you try and experiment with this concept.

I fully agree with this. I do know that there are lounges out there that do it. The steam stones are cheaper than tobacco, and have the same flavor. So they use the steam stones and then pack the tobacco.
I dont know exactly which lounges use them, as I have not been able to get that info. I do know they are out there though.

I have herd of people using foil donuts or even smooth stones at the bottom of the bowls to save on tobacco but to each their own.

I'd imagine that straight up DRY stones would soak up the moisture and molasses from the shisha and cause it to burn or even cherry, so make sure you don't use dry ones. If I did something like that, I would just use unflavored, food-grade glycerin with the stones so your don't have to match flavors. You probably don't want to use river rocks. I'd recommend either buying steam stones and reusing them, or (like Zanaspus said) get plain aquarium gravel and boil it in water for a while, just to make sure there's nothing weird in them.

That doesn't sound too bad, aquarium gravel shouldn't leech things into the water so i would think they would be pure.

Wouldnt you think that the stones would actually help you get more out of the juice thats already in juicy shisha? the stuff drips out anyways, the rocks would provide more surface area for the heat to come in contact with. Its the same principal of shisha stones. I would never use NYC river stones ... Shisha stones or aquarium gravel would be the best bet, i agree
