Hello everyone, I'm new to the site. I've learned so much here, great site.
I recently purchased 2 tangiers small phunnel bowls. I am getting a weird gum taste from both bowls and it is making me nauseous. I've tried different shishas/flavors with no luck. I smoke out of my egyptian and Vortex bowls with no problem. Anyone encounter a similar problem? I purchased the bowls from a reputable dealer so I think they are authentic. Thanks in advance for any help. Michael |

I would recommend boiling the bowls in water for 15 minutes. The issue may be with some kind plod residue from their production process.

Drunkenso meant: boiling the bowls, not bowling the bowls. English is his second language. His first is Farso, spoken by the 327 inhabitants of the Isle of Farse. Please forgive him and welcome to HP!

Leaving it in a cup of oxiclean solution overnight will help too.
Just rinse well. |

Only other thing I can think of is if you're using nasty rubber grommets that are melting while you smoke. I find the clear Egyptian style grommets or Mya grommets are best, and do not melt or impart taste when heated.

It's a clay bowl which is unglazed from the inside (not that you didn't know), but I think soaking it in oxyclean will pose the risk of the bowls absorbing the stuff.

Get a toothbrush, get lemon and baking soda (I think it's soda, never get that right though, same thing you use to clean and polish your hookah) and scrub it!! Lemon + Baking soda kills almost any flavor, after that for good measure boil them for 10 mins and it should smell like... well... nothing, which is good.

You guys are the best
I boiled it for 15 minutes and most of that nasty taste is gone. When I get a chance i am gonna clean them with lemon and baking soda. Now i can finally order some tangiers and try it for the first time! thanks everyone |
