It is not fake, they never label it as a sahara smoke vortex and it does say that it is ceramic in the details of the page its on.

It also has a very very large opening on the bottom, causing one to double up on gromets just so it fits the shaft.

T Virus speaks the truth! Unfortunately there are a lot of cheap copies of the high quality bowls. You've really got to do your homework. Don't feel too bad, we've all made these mistakes at one time or another.

Do Sahara vortex bowl come in a clear box that has vortex written on the front? I found this spot by my work, went in for a look and seen it, but the guy didn't know anything and everything in there looked really low quality. Idk if I can trust it. Any help is much appreciated.

It has worked perfectly fine for me for about a year now.

Although I've gone through 3 of them from dropping it.

Yes jordaz I just received a real vortex and it came in a little clear plastic box with vortex written on it and a picture of the bowl that almost looks sketched by an artist with a little signature below it

It doesn't matter if it comes in a santa sized scrotum sack....I'd still take it out of the box and feel the material!

Ceramic and clay will be very distinctive! Ceramic is more white while clay is darker in color. Clay is heavier...ceramic is light in weight. If you simply and softly "flick" the bowl with your fingernail you can tell the difference in clay and ceramic!

Best of luck make!

PS: Stay away from santa sized scrotum sacks.

I hear Santa sized scrotum sacks are supposed to be made of black velvet with a painting of Jesus on them.

What's better a vortex bowl or a phunnel bowl? And which one doesn't leak as much juice's down the stem?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm going to say neither are best, and both are best; it depends who you ask. The best is the one YOU like the most. Both have their devout fans who'll swear that their favorite is best, and many people own both, and use them equally. They are both well designed, well made, and accomplish what they are designed to do well; unless you try to save a few bucks by buying a cheap Chinese knock-off of the original.

As for your second question, neither will leak juices down the stem if packed correctly. Both will if packed incorrectly.
