you can shine it up and it looks real pretty, thats about it, the only thing i've heard is it absorbs flavor more, but idk how true that is

Copper is a better conducted than stainless steel so it will cool smoke alittle bit. Over all it just looks nicer and is more durable. I have a pharonie and a kanji wheat both with copper down stem and they look much nicer than my normal tri metal

Any advantage in conductifvity is too mall to make any difference. Much less notice.

Copper more duarable than stainless steel? I don't thnk so. Copper, even when it's tempered will be softer than stainless. Copper also oxydizes where stainless steel doesn't.

It all comes down to aesthetics. Copper will need a little more care to keep looking nice, but neither should be a factor when buying a hookah. Both are strong enough to use for downstems.

Copper does not rust. Only ferrous metals (alloys containing iron) rust. That's why potable water lines and medical gas lines are always copper pipe. I can't see why it would make any difference as a downstem though. Having said that, the pharonie and kamanja wheat are both sweet rigs.

Yes. Copper does rust. Rust is oxydation. When copper oxydizes, it turns green.

When iron oxidizes it's called rust. When copper oxidizes it's called patina. The term "rust" is exclusive to ferrous metals. For example, is the Statue of Libety rusted? It sure is green but.....not rust.

You could say the Statue of Liberty is rusted and it would not be inaccurate. A Patina can refer to any discoloration of metal (or other materials) due to age or weathering. It doens't change what it is, it's still oxidation. Calling it patina is just a nice way of saying it.
And if you relly wanna get nitpicky, the proper term for oxidized copper is verdigris.

Maybe if you try to eat it.
Scrub it down with a scouring pad to remove any heavy buildup, then clean it like you normally would and it will be fine.

Ouch.

This is very true. Patina refers to anything that is altered with age or other natural conditions.

I'm pretty sure this is a 'squares vs. rectangles' issue. Sorry UB, Wikipedia agrees with everyone else, saying:

"Rusting is the common term for corrosion of iron and its alloys, such as steel. Many other metals undergo equivalent corrosion, but the resulting oxides are not commonly called rust."

I suppose you could read "not commonly," as "rarely, but still acceptable," but that's not how I'd take it.
