It works. I got drunk doing it once. While you dont boil the alcohol, you still get a certain amount of alcohol either in vapor form, or aerosolized, which you absorb through your lungs. As it goes straight into your blood stream, you don't need nearly as much alcohol to get drunk that way, so even though you get less alcohol, you still get drunk.

You can't vaporize the alcohol without heat. And there is no heat reaching the stem. The idea that you can get drunk from putting alcohol in the base is 100% false. If you do, it's strictly a placebo effect.

Recently, I have found myself smoking with whatever beer I have in the fridge. Whether it be Shiner Bock, Guinness, Hef, etc. I just enjoy the contrast of bitterness and sweetness when it comes to drinking beer and smoking shisha.

Guinness and Harp is more of a Black&Tan. I'm using Guinness and cider. going back and forth from Woodchuck private reserve and Strongbow. so good.

It's irritating how different places call them different things. Anyways, you should definitely try Murphy's Irish Stout mixed with a Crispin Apple Cider. It is quite delicious. I recently picked up Angry Orchard Cider which is really good. I want to pair it with Murphy's.

And just discovered a new one. Right now I'm smoking Tangiers F-line Kashmir with an extra dry martini. The flower and spice flavors blends perfectly with Gin!

You are correct in that you cannot BOIL alcohol without heat (at ambient pressure that is). However, even without you adding any heat at all, alcohol is already vaporizing at room temperature and pressure. all liquids have a certain vapor pressure which is tied to how much vapor forms over the liquid. Also the fact that in a hookah you constantly draw the alcohol away and stir in fresh air keeps the alcohol vaporizing.

this is also why you can taste it when you put a juice in the base, even though you certainly aren't boiling it.
