Default A little help with my new KM hookah!

Hello all , i just got a brand new KM Trimetal Lang!

I bought it with some Nakhla DA and some cocosnut coals( Al Fakher)

but i am really experiencing a harsh smoke!

i am using 3 coals and a windcover ( just in the beginning to get it going)

Btw i cutted the tabacco with a cissor to make it fluffy!

Anyone got a few good tips for me ?
Thanks in advance ,

Jeroen

You would benefit from watching a complete hookah setup video including the part on packing the bowl based off how this sounds. Also, don't cut your tobacco with scissors or anything for that matter.

As for burning 3 coals and windcover while inhaling at the beginning is too much. Windcover+3 coals to get the bowl up to temperature sure....but no inhaling.

I agree, you might be getting harsh smoke because you cut your tobacco up finely... Basically the smaller the pieces of matter being smoked the easier it is for more of it to burn at one time, which I would assume would make the smoke harsher.

Ahhhh, you saw the vid where she cuts up the shisha.
Get out the Yoshi blade! You probably don't need to do that with Nak if you break it up by hand as you sprinkle it into the bowl. I'm probably odd cuz I use an oyster fork and the poker from my tongs to break it up before I start putting it into the bowl. It helps when you have a new batch of Nak that's all compressed.

Anyhow, what bowl are you using?
HD foil?
How many holes in the foil? I think too many will heat it up too much.
If you hit it too often, it can get things harsh, so don't hoover.
Make sure the shisha is not touching the foil.

These are general things, but I hear AF is heat sensitive. I'm sure one of the AF fans here can help you with that.

what coals are you using?

if quicklights... make sure they are glowing red entirely before you smoke...its not done lighting after the sparks are done.

also, try naturals.

if you do use naturals..make sure they are glowing red before you start.

drink water, make sure you are fed.

dont let the tobacco touch the foil with the vortex. (vortexes arent what you want for an overpack)

One: congratulations, I love Nak DA and all its glory, so i welcome you to the Nak experience.

Two: harsh smoke in your case could be brought on by the Nak being more cut up than needed (Really Nak is really fine already). 3 coals... Are you using a phunnel bowl? You could just use two and windcover for your Egyptian instead.

Three: I hope this helps, and just remember that the cut of the moassel done by the company is cut that way for a reason.

Is the nak dry? Maybe it needs glycerin?

Neorej - this is real good info ^ and can keep you from getting ill. Most of the time I uses two coals and a windcover with a vortex and add a 3rd coal later in the session (may be 45 to 50 minutes) when the first coals have died down a bit.

@ Everyone responding :

Thanks for all those quick reply's i appreciate it .

No the tabacco isnt dry !

I am using Natural Cocosnut Coals By Al Fakher !

I dont overpack my vortex bowl ( like 1cm between tabacco and foil)
So what i have to do is:

Put 2 coals and a windcover to get it going ( later on remove the windcover?)

And dont cut de tabacco

make sure with the vortex that you pack your nakhla pretty tight, but use a fork or poker to get the tobacco away from the spire in the middle. and i usually keep about half of a centimeter between the foil and the top of the tobacco in a vortex. once your vortex gets used enough you will get a ring of black burnt juices around the rim of the bowl, and if you pack your moassel right at that black line, you will get near-perfect heat.

this is an al faker pack but i think it would work very well for NAK as well.

hhere is my hole pattern for this AF bowl, but with nakhla you can probably use more holes.

Quick Pointer OP is using nakhla and AF coals not AF tobacco

Egyptian Bowl sprinkel tobacco in foil about 9 large holes all the way to bottom of bowl. 2 coals should be fine on rim of bowl and smoke should not be harsh.
