Default Canary Golden Japanese Coals Are acting a tad bit weird...

I was wondering...has anyone tried these coals?

My friend lent me a few bars of this stuff because I was curious about them. After leaving them on the stove top for 7 mins (seriously red hot) and after the silver layer came off...it went black again.

I knew it didn't need anymore heat cuz the silver paint came off.

Also, it ASHED BLACK! That was a little weird! I know it wasn't a bad batch since there was no smell or taste

Even if the coals needed more heat, it shouldn't ashed grayish/white..not black.

*SIGH*...Maybe these coals don't meet up to the hype.

Has anyone had any experiences with these? Did they act the same as well?

The coals I am talking about are THESE. Not the japanese knockoffs (the one with the orange and black box)

i use them, mine get red when they are lit but still look fairly dark. take them to a darker place and blow on them, if they turn red they are fine. the ash IS black and clings to the coal holding the same shape as the coal, looks a bit weird also sort of like something is growing on the coal. again the ash is black not white or gray.

yeah, dats what I do. When I blow on them they glow red. Ehh I'm not too much of a fan of these lol. Good thing my friend lent me a few sticks. Or else I would've bought a whole box and end up not liking them.
