Default Hi from CT

Lurked for a while, but finally decided to join up.

I have smoked cigars occasioanlly for the last 6 or 7 years and recently got into hookah as well.

My fiance and I have a double hose. Started with Fantasia (love the rainbow) and recently have been uale to get away from AF Mint. I love that on its own, but also like to mix it with fruity flavors as well.

Been reading and learning alot and am looking forward to spending some time here.

One question I have is:

Our hookah came with a standard bowl - I have been looking at replacing with with either a phunnel or a vortex. What are the real differences between the two? I know the Phunnel pull from the top, while the vortex has holes more in the middle, but other than that I am lost.

Thanks all!

Welcome to forums. Phunnels and vortex bowls are both made for smoking very wet tobaccos, like AF, so that juices don't run down the holes and so they don't clog up the airflow of the bowl. I find that vortexs are a bit easier to use than phunnels and work great. Phunnels can be more finicky to smoke with packing and heat management, but also can produce more airflow and slightly thicker smoke. If you do buy a vortex, buy a Sahara Smoke one, not a knockoff. If you buy a phunnel, buy a Tangiers one, not a knockoff. There are many cheap versions of these bowls that are known to have issues and they won't perform as well as the real ones. Happy smoking!

Fixed it for you.

Indeed, thank you. I will soon be the proud owner of a crown micro phunnel.
