Unhappy Problems with heat management

Okay so, for a long time I smoked out of a MYA QT. While I absolutely love that little thing, I thought it was time to invest in a KM. I received it on Thursday, and I have to say its a piece of art. I really do like it, a lot. However, I'm having problems getting the heat just right. I can't really draw big clouds, at least, I can't unless the shisha gets burned accidentally. Which, seems to be happening pretty frequently with it. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong.

I've been smoking Starbuzz Lemon Mint out of it with a vortex bowl. I covered it with two layers of foil with a well-spaced circular hole pattern, and I've been using 3 coconaras to get it started. It seems like once I get the clouds going the flavor gets sacrificed. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong.

How dense are you packing? Imo 1 layer hd foil is all you need. Try starting off with 2 coals across from one another, let that bake for a few minutes then take a few pulls. Rotate the coals and add the 3rd if necessary.

Well, I sprinkle the shisha in. I try to make sure that it isn't packed down into the bowl so the bottom doesn't get wasted. I sprinkle it to the top of the spire and then mix it around until its evenly put in. So, just let it sit and don't take any hits for the first few minutes?

Yes, let it sit a few and just use 2 coals to start off with. Sounds like your packing it fine. When you say 2 layers of foil are you using the heavy duty foil?

that is correct. add a windcover if you have one with 2-3 nat coals (depending on bowl) for the first 5ish minutes. remove windcover, remove one coal if using 3 and rotate to a north/south or east/west position. take a pull and you should have solid smoke. roatate every 15 minutes er so. add coal and put on windcover as necessary thats my general procedure and seems to work pretty well regardless of bowl used.
