Default Kaloud Lotus Modification

I have a Lotus and I love it, however, the heat loss due to one side of the coals going out is aggravating. I have read comparisons of the Lotus vs the Ignis and Stratus and they don't have that problem due to space at the bottom of the devices. I don't want to buy another device, so I was wondering has anyone done any modifications to their Lotus or added something to it to help reduce this issue?

I am thinking about cutting my flavor saver and putting it in my Lotus. Has anyone else tried this with any result? If not, I'll be the guinea pig and post my results.

Any feedback or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that the flavor-savor thing would not give you enough heat.

I think your best bet is just to flip your coals once in a while if you're getting black-bottom.

make sure your coals are fully lit i don't use them unless they have a good grey ash all over and glowing. make sure your coals are fully dry and free from excess moisture, dry them in the oven or in the freezer, i had a couple of box's that wanted to black out on me and they felt dry to the touch but needed to go in the oven for a bit, then they worked just fine.

if you are using flat coals use 3 standing on the sides instead of laying flat. They don't go out that way in my experience. with cubes I just flip them half way through without issue also.

How did that work for you? Does it allow you to not have to flip coals?

I am currently using Cocobrico Cubes. Should I be using Flats in the Lotus instead?

This, because while the bottom will go black a little bit, it still leaves the vast majority of surface area red hot providing ample heat to get a good smoke. Also with cubes versus flats in an HMD (depending on the internal air space) I find the cubes crowd the HMD a bit too much and cause each other to go black

I place my coals the same way Stabby does. It works for me.
