Default KM oxide prince help

hi guys just got a KM prince as a gift. have been smoking hookah for a while mostly at a local hookah lounge.

right now i am using 3 kings charcoal and Al Fahker double apple tobacco. for some reason i just can't get the hookah to go as good as when I'm at the tea house. its driving me nuts. i have watches some youtube clips on how to pack a bowl but it just doesn't seem to go as good as when I'm at the lounge.

the hookah seems to be assembled properly and there is smoke that comes out but i just can't get the monster clouds.

if you guys could give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What bowl and how are you packing it? Are there leaks in your set up? How do you poke your holes? Post pictures please? Quit using those bs quick lights and get natural cocos and a burner, that's that no arguments just do it!

thanks for the response Juggy.

let me answer your questions in chronological order.

1) I'm using a vortex bowl

2) there are no visible leaks. when i puff there are no smoke leaks and exhaust valve is normal.

3) i have been poking holes with a olive stick used for martinis.

4) will try and get some pics up today

Check for leaks by removing the bowl, covering the hole, and sucking. If air is coming through, you've got a leak. Visually looking for smoke to come out when you pull won't tell you if you have a leak. Pics of how you're packing your bowl and placing your coals will help.

You'll also want a wind cover.

thanks one small voice. i think you might have it on the wind cover thing. i was smoking outside on my patio and i noticed that the wind is blowing out the coals. i brought the hookah inside to test and re packed a bowl and was able to get some monster clouds.

got to get some pics up soon.

windcovers are good for wind, but used primarily for fine tuning heat management and saving money on coals.

Good deal. Actually, the wind cover will help you control your heat. Blocking wind is a bonus.

Get a big one. If you're using a Tangiers type bowl, you'll need some height. Other than that, you can find lots of easy DIY's in the home-made hookah section.

Ok so tonight I did some experimenting with a make shift wind cover I crafted from aluminum. I'm happy to report that the KM is now smoking like mother F******. The coals are glowing red and I'm getting some monster clouds.

I'm looking forward to getting some grape and getting that really sweet taste I'm use to at the tea house.

Have any of you guys tried the Af grape? And if so is it super sweet? I really love that sweet taste so if there are other recommendations it's greatly appreciated

Edit- this time a bowl lasted about 90 mins.

The most common description of AF grape is that it tastes like ketchup.
The review section is not really set up for searching by flavor (l tried to address this at one point), but if you pull up a brand and scroll through, you'll find the flavors you're looking for scattered throughout.

i believe once you get to a brand's thread you can search that individual thread?

By brand, not by flavor. E.g. for grape, you'd have to go to AF, scroll through to find all the grape reviews scattered through the AF thread, then go to one of several Nakhla threads and scroll through to find grape, then the Tangiers thread, etc, in order to get an idea of which grape flavor is best.

I can't link from my crappy phone, but if you search "Best mint flavor", "best peach", or "best coffee flavor", you'll see what l mean. The model has limitations, but for comparing like flavors across different brands (such as trying to find out which grape flavor to buy and which to steer clear of), it's much easier in my opinion. In no way a replacement for traditional reviews, but a very useful supplement.

Put yourself in the mindframe of someone who has never smoked peach tobacco, for instance, and wants to know which peach tobacco to try. Go ahead and do the research using the review section, see what you come up with and how long it takes you to make an informed decision, then repeat the process, but using the thread mentioned above. See which is easier and faster. I'd also be interested in whether or not you came up with the same answer both times- and if not, which conclusion comes closer to your own experience.

Glad you got it sorted. About AF Grape... the general idea around these forums tends to be that it tastes like ketchup, maybe I got an exceptionally good batch or something but I can tell you that mine tastes super sweet. It's quite pleasant but nothing to write home about, just another decent flavour.

Would a picture of the word "word" be worth one thousand words, or one thousand and one words? The world wants to know.

Didn't Rene Magritte try that? I think there are still words being written about it to this day...
