Default Lighting Coconut Coal for Lounge

Hi guys,

I'm looking to start a shisha lounge and i'm looking for a method to light the coal - in a proper and not so much of a full of ash way.

A previous lounge i worked in used coil burners but they tend to take a while/crack and break too often. I currently use one at home but a lounge requires it to be on 24/7.

So what is the best way to light up large amounts of coal at a lounge without taking too much?

Thanks

I've been thinking of the BBQ method - but would that not create too smoke?

I oversaw a lounge for a few years. We just used multiple coil burners and The Blazn burners. I never found it to “ take too long”. Typically by the time you fill your base, pack and foil your bowl, your coals are ready. Anyway, never found a more efficient way to light coals.

i also worked in a lounge and im telling you coil burners are the best way and pretty much only way to go. Every single lounge uses them.

Unless you wanna spend 1000s to get a furnace but even that option isnt worth it unless youre buying the humongous coal cubes that are like 1'x1'x1', lighting those up, then use a chisel hammer to make small pieces to put on the head. And even if you do that, it costs more to do this.

Coil burners, Theyre cheap, they light the coals well and they do it quickly. You mentioned cracking, youre probably using shitty coals. ive never seen a coil burner ever crack coals.

If you think it doesnt light up coals fast enough, put the coals closer together and use a fan. itll make the flame increase because the heat of x amount of coals are bunched together. and thatll light the coals faster.

lounges in the UK never use electric burners. Every one I've been to uses big grills which burn like 50 coals at a time. Something like this is more common

Is that for practicality Fred? Or because its tough to get coil burners on your backward island ?

I think it's for practicality especially for the bigger lounges which will have a capacity of 100+ people easily

Makes sense. We’re in a more rural area. A full house for us was 20-30, so Coal burners worked fine.
