Default Stem shine dulling

How long does it usually take for a hookah to start loosing its shine or start to become dull

Stainless steel or nickel-plated stems will not really oxidize on you. Brass or copper will need an occasional polish. I recommend a copper/brass polishing cloth (it will work on both- brass is basically copper with a bit of zinc) that is treated with a polishing compound. It's used dry, just rub it over the stem for that like-new shine, is re-useable many times over, and contains a protectant that will help prevent tarnishing.

an hour or so


but really, even after a single day you can tell with copper IMO

Try using brasso! It is really good for giving it a good shine and protecting it. Just make sure I buff it off well afterwards.

ketchup does a good job polishing brass and copper as well. any sort of mild acid will.
