Default iPod Alternatives

Hey Guys!

So, I'm looking at buying a new music player with my tax return, to replace my stolen iPod. Now before I jump back on the iPod bandwagon, I'm just wondering if you guys have any ideas for an alternative that would be worth me checking out. I'm looking for something that has a pretty big capacity, not necessarily a great movie player, but it's always a bonus, long lasting, good battery life, etc.

Cheers,
-Riley

But the Apple brand shows that you have money and class!

I would go with the Gigabeat and then RockBox that shit.

no Juno, the apple brand shows you are not technically inclined, and would like something that is going to break soon. I SWEAR by my zune! It has been to hell and back (Iraq, afghanistan, etc.) and STILL works FLAWLESSLY! And mind you, I have the 1st Generation Zune!

In terms of capacity, you only have the Zune. The Zunes not bad at all though. Great display, nice vivid colorful screens, and it's wide and great for movies.

But, now that the Ipod Touch has over 30gb.....I don't think there's any competition, and those new APPS are fun as all hell (Strobe FTW!). If you have a library over 10gb, you should be getting a Touch.

I had an Ipod when they first came out and now I have a Zune. I swear by my Zune as well, that thing is everything I always wanted in a MP3 player and more.

i would say a zune or a zen creative the creative its so easy it put music and videos in it, you just click and drag what ever you want into the folder. you can even change the back ground of your player

RockBox? What does that do in Layman's terms... ? . I know it's an open source jukebox program... but what exactly does that do for your player?

For good reviews of non apple products:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/

I carry a Cowon D2 8gb with a 16gb SDHC card. As you can read in the reviews, the sound quality and output are very high. The battery life on music is 50+ hours, 10 hours on videos.

You do realize zune has 30gigs also. Also here is the 80 gig http://www.zune.net/en-US/products/zune80gb/default.htm

I would recommend a zune over an ipod and I even own a 30g ipod.
