Default Setting up my new Hookah

Hey everyone, I'm a new Hookah smoker and I'm having trouble with my recently purchased Khalil Maamoon. I never had one before, so I finally purchased one few days ago and smoked twice since then. The smoke was average and it had a burn/sour taste after few minutes. So I was hoping you guys could help me enjoy my session and answer few of my questions if possible.

here are the holes I made. Too big? too small? Too many? too few?

Did I fill in too much water in the base or this fine?

I'm using Coco Nara coals. Should I use one or two of them?

Btw, I've been smoking Al Nakhla Mint.

thanks in advance.

It looks like you may have put too much water in the base. How long is your stem? I personally would put more holes in the bowl, but that is just me. And with that bowl I would use 2 coco naras.

Then you have too much water in the base. Pour water in the base and then put the stem in, then measure and the stem should be submerged about 1-1.5 inches.

fill the vase slightly past the second line and see how that looks as far as stem submersion goes, use 2 coco naras. if their the cubed ones im thinking about you can use 3. As far as the holes you can do a 3 ring type deal going from the edge of the bowl to inside kind of like a bullseye with a hole in the middle as well. I personally use a little pin. make sure you are fluff paking it which is when you grab a pinch and sprinkle it in, also make sure the tobacco is a little bit before the rim of the bowl. hope this helps

Agreed. Way too much water. Like mentioned above, submerge the stem about an inch or so.Two Coconaras on an Egyptian bowl with Nakhla is what I use with my KM.Personally, I'd say there aren't enough holes in the foil either. About double that amount should result in good airflow.Good luck!

Thanks guys, I will try it today. Another question, which brand of aluminium foil do you use? Or it doesn't matter?

Like most people have already stated. Put much less water in the vase, I have that same vase and I fill it up to the top of the frosting right above the apple. As for the holes in the foil, you definitely need to poke more holes. Also, depending on what bowl you are using you can play around with different patterns that work for you. Foil wise, I would recommend reynolds wrap heavy duty.

personally id do alot more holes, you barely have any . usually i do 3 rings of holes at least like 40.

i cant see your water level.. but probably to high put the hookah stem in and the bulb at the bottom of the stem should be in the water 1 inch to 1 inch and half not much
