Default Electronic charcoal

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=06181882751

I'm on my phone so if you can't use the website ebay "electronic hookah", it's the yellow ceramic coal.

Neat idea, I wouldn't use it though. I remember a while ago a thread was talking about what hookahs in the future would do, and someone said electronic charcoal. Well here you go! From the "made in china" and fractured english in the description ("place a tin foil on bowl") I wouldn't trust it. But it's a neat idea. Thoughts? Opinions? Concerns?

I remember dunkel doing a video on this, said it was decent but not good enough heat output even with a wind cover on.

I think photo did a video review on this if I'm not mistaken, or at least some other electronic charcoal. Kind of gimmicky, but not a terrible idea if they could increase the heat output of these things

I think they have a problem with spontaneously combusting - no joke.

I recall hearing that they tend to explode sending bits of ceramic all over the place. The other problem i've heard reported is that you need to properly heat a large bowl (like a vortex) and they don't change heaving levels when you draw which likely makes heat management a a real problem. Still, I think these things sound like a great idea if they could be made to actually work properly.

In theory that would be awesome. In practicality, not so good. Other coals a specifically made for a certain heat level and it just seems hard to manage heat with one.

I did a video on them a while back, they do work, but I still prefer charcoal.
The reasons are simple, it takes forever to heat up, you need multiple for a standard sized bowl, you need to use a windcover which is a pain, the wire is a pain, and being near an outlet is a pain. Oh, if you like a lot of smoke, it's also not for you....

But it works.

Some people have gotten them to work with certain foil techniques, but in general they don't seem to get hot enough. Maybe if you had a really small bowl?

On a related note...Kaloud, the makers of the completely pointless and overpriced base additive "Kaloud Pure", will be starting pre-orders July 10th for something called "Kaloud Lotus", which I assume to be some sort of electrical heating device. I hope that it is both successful and reasonably priced, but I highly doubt it.

This is one of the coolest threads on hookahpro, it's a shame that it was ended on bad terms. http://www.hookahpro.com/forum/showt...ic+coal&page=3 I really hope this gets made.

They work, just not as well as charcoal. I have to use 2 for a standard bowl, sit next to an outlet, and 'wrassle' with cords through my windcover.

Not worth it at this point.
