Default Question about Coconara

Soo, heres whats been happening to me lately with the Coco Nara coals. I use an electric stove to get them going. I wait until they are (or what looks to be) fully lit. When I place them on the foil though and smoke with them, the side that is sitting on the foil goes out. So I flip the coal and it happens again on that side, so in the end in I have a coal thats no longer lit. Do these just need open flames to fully lite?

takes me 5 minutes to light them on a coil stove with a wind cover over them. also, if I smoke with a windcover, which is always, they don't black out on me.

I've had the same problem with CH naturals. I talked to CH and we came to the conclusion it's probably humidity in the house causing this.

I have a 2nd box of CH naturals and im keeping them in a zip lock bag as suggested on the box. Don't know if this will actually help or not :-|

All coconut coals will go black on the bottom while you smoke. Its not an issue.

I use CH Nats myself.

Put them on the stove for about 5-7 minutes until the ash has crawled over the top, I usually blow over them just to get the top fully lit.

Put them on your bowl, smoke for maybe 20-25 minutes, then ash them and flip them over. Then smoke until they're gone.

I use CH nats and they work perfectly. Never had an issue on blacking out, yet.
Umm... should I keep the CH nat box in a bag or something to make sure no moisture builds up or am I just being carried away.

I lit CH coals on a gas stove and same happens to me, but i think this happen to everyone. The up side when i lit them is black and when a flip them on gas stove the other side goes black too. When they are fully lit the have some ash on them, i take them out and blow them on both sides until they are red hot. When i put them on tray, the down side goes black, the same when on the bowl. You just have to flip them once a while, always for me the up side when on bowl is red hot

nats all do this, being black doesnt mean its out, it means its cold. My prescription is just set them in front of a fan or blow on them for a minute they will be really red and not lose a ton of heat when you put them on the bowl.

My method to get natural coal working:
Just light the coal.
Then put one above the other.
After this you put a Chimney (made of aluminium foil) over it.
Then you wait a couple of minutes till the coal glows completely.

The principe is that a heat is reflected and so on^^
(I am not good in describing things in english )

The chimney is is easy to make.
You just need a 0,33l bottle, like this one:

And then you wrap the aluminium foil around it.

Hope you understand me :>

Eh, I've used Coconaras for a while without a problem. It is probably related to the humidity, like someone mentioned. I also always use a wind cover with them.

I've noticed Coconara's tend to be a little hotter and require more attention on the bowl. I prefer Exoticas, they light quicker and are much cheaper with less attention.

I don't use Coco cause its hard to find them in San Diego, but I use a similar natural coal and I think that's just the nature of the beast. The bottom of the coal will not always stay red hot like the tops, but that's okay because if it did, it would burn the crap out of your shisha if you weren't rotating them like a every second!

I've found that they black out on me, but that the heat doesn't go away, eventually when it does I flip them and they last another 15 min or something. I haven't, but apparently you can also reheat them after they go out.
