Default Some problems with AF

So i been having trouble with my AF watermelon. I smoked it in a vortex bowl, and it was alright at first, but then got harsh and harsh. I used only two ******* instant charcoal and moved it around. then i thought it was the bowl, so i switch to a regular Egyptian bowl and well within the first three pulls it got harsh again...i also used two ******* hookah charcoals as well... same procedure... dnt know wats really wrong and hate to throw out a tub of AF watermelon. O yea i smoked nakhla double apple but that was way before i was about to smoke af, and well it was a good seesion, but with af cant say the same..need some helpp...thanks alot

Set Up: Egyptian Hooah: Cold icey water, mixed then sprinkled af shisha evenly, 2 ******* hookah charcoals, smoke and it sucked

Ive had the same problem with ALL my shisha not just AF. Use a regular lighter to lite the QLs and make sure they ash over first. I found that if I used a gas stove to make the lighting process go faster, it would just add TOO much heat therefore burning the shisha, and the coals life span would shorten.

I had the same deal with the AF Watermelon I just picked up...I think it's just sensitive to heat so I just added another layer of HD foil and it stays pretty good now...

I have a similar setup, Egyptian + cold/icy water + Vortex (or standard Egyptian)...

blame the coals... thats what everyone seems to do lol. its true, if the coals arnt any good you wont get a nice smoke. my head hurts from smoking qls so i avoid them from now. I have a few on had for when i take my hooka to the lake, but thats it. try natrual coals and see if you still have any problems

hookahrider your idea on using a lighter on the CH QL's won't work. For CH coals you need to make sure they fully burn till they turn nice and red. The only lighter that I know that can do that other than stoves is that huge ass lighter that almost looks like a blowtorch.

wordtomelon, I'm assuming your not packing too hard or anuthing right?

Oh yea whats so bad about the smoke? Can't pull, light smoke, no smoke? =P

I'm packing my bowls good, i even left some space for the holes in the vortex bowl, and well as for smoke, when i pull i cnt pull too long, meaning as soon as i pull i cough or have a short pull..usally i can pull for a good 10 to 15 sec enough to could the area.. once again thanks

you can light CH quick-lights with a lighter. i used to have them and i did it all the time.

well try 1 coal and a windcover. or just 1 coal. that seems to work for me. i have af watermelon, it hasn't failed on me yet.

hey Ive had the same problem with the 4 af flavors I've tried including watermelon. So just to clarify is the smoke really harsh but there's no burnt taste? Like for some reason an irresitible cough gets to you if you take a normal pull? If so I would suggest leaving your tub open and let it airout for a couple of hours with an occasional mixing. If what I described is indeed your situation let me know and I'd be glad go help out some more.
Btw, all 4 flavors are now ok with no cough inducing factors at all
And ch ql are fine to light with a bic. That's what I used to use. I personally think these coals are top-notch and easily the best quicklights out there

Sounds like the same symptoms I outlined in my AF Grape with Mint video review. I smoked an old batch of double apple and it smoked fine. seems to just be the new stuff.

Msy i add a phunnel and a vortex is a no no to smoke AF out of, clay bowls are fine but then all the juice goes in the base and its a headache cleaning it up

I think "some problems" is putting it lightly. I used to be a huge AF fan but I also have to admit that AF has become pure suckage as of late. I usually enjoy AF Two Apples but last night I lit up a bowl and while smoking, out of nowhere I get this horrible overpowering spicy flavour on top of the aniseed taste. It was pure s**t!

But most of the sessions I've had with AF shisha lately have been rather disappointing. Either I don't get enough flavour or the smoke suddenly gets harsh for no apparent reason.

I don't have any of these consistency problems with Al Waha and Starbuzz. Won't be buying AF again anytime soon. Gonna get me some Nakhla instead.
