just rinse it well, i got no residual smell, i wash it uber well with lemon too so i dont get any smell either

i used it but vinegar is cheaper and works better

i usually scrub it first with dish soap and a brush but on the myas or similar brass stems that are not a straight shot down they pick up a bad smell no matter how well you scrub them but the vinegar and to a lesser degree the lemon kick it out

A *** head suggested I use rubbing alcahol and salt cause that's what he used for his ****. I figured I would try it and I was suprised how well it worked. I would recomend trying it for your base.

alcohol works but it is a very strong degreaser, i honestly dont know how it compares to vinegar as a degreaser but i think i remember hearing that it is stronger at degreasing.

and what is bad about degreasing? well on brass its not a big deal because just a new layer of oxide (patina) forms and seals the metal but on steel it will allow it to rust and rust on steel will continue through the metal.

and fyi watch some of those words, they are taboo here

Lemon Juice is 1.99 for the big bottle at my local grocery store. 2.99 for the big bottle of the "RealLemon" stuff.

again on the myas and other hollow brass stems they build up junk in parts you cannot brush so you need something stronger. on a straight bore stem water works fine with a brush but not on these
