Default Can someone help me identify this Hookah?

A little history on this Hookah...

As a child I lived in Saudi while my father worked for ARAMCO. This is one of the pieces they brought back. I believe it was purchased around 1973. I have found what appears to be a makers mark, however I am unable to read it. It has been bouncing around with me since college. It is intact as it was given to me back in 92....

So this is probably a long shot. But I would like to find the last few pieces to complete it, I know it's missing a bowl....what can y'all tell me. I doubt I would smoke this, the inner stem is a type of wood, and the whole thing is in need of further polishing. But it, along with other pieces we brought back will be going into my new lounge upstairs.

Oops, posted it before I got the pics online...will update when they get online

I think that Thunder is a Saudi so he could reader the maker's mark on it. I am pretty ignorant on Saudi narghile makers so I can't help. Since it's from the '70s I am sure it's for tombac so you'll need a tombac bowl or make an adopter to use a conventional Egyptian style bowl with it. I think that Hookah Company carries some Saudi bowl as does John so they might be usable.

Ok, to answer, 44" from floor to tip top...

It is one of those pieces that I do so dearly love...I have another one still at their house, I will have to go get it and take some pics of it as well...

Interesting Hajo...I never thought about it being used for tombac...

If anyone is interested I can take some pics of the individual pieces...

Another question, outside of the beauty...does anyone know if the bells serve a purpose?

It says "الاصيل" .. "Al-aseel" .. which means "The original" ..

It looks like the hookah that is used to smoke "Jurak" but this one is smaller and the hose is different. I have seen a similar one in my friend's house and he is Syrian.

I've tried a similar hookah in Saudi Arabia and it is called "Adany". I think it is made in Yemen but I am not sure. Can you check the interior of the vase and see if it is made of wood?

If it is made out of wood, I am sure this is the one that I've tried. They also call it "Khashab hookah" which means wood. This is one of the best hookah I've ever tried, it has a much easier pull than regular hookahs and gives more flavor if you use it to smoke one flavor in a regular basis. Try it and let us know what do you think.

Thunder

Thank you for all your information...

As I get more into Hookah's I may do just that...

Right now I have nothing to compare it to, and I'm worried I might break it. In addition, I live in Houston...with the wood lining, when I do clean it, having it dry all the way might be a problem. Here humidity is typically in the 90% range, while in Saudi...well I'm sure you can tell...

I need to get the other one out and get some pics of it as well...

Again,

Thank you
