I believe so but i am not 100% sure. It is just what i have read in some other threads that talk about risks.

tar is only created when the tobacco burns.
if you smoke a hookah properly, you will have 0.0% tar.

there is still the same amount of nicotine when it's in the box, and when it's being smoked.

well tar usually in a scientific sense is anything other than nicotine that is produced (so water vapor counts). in a health sense you have basically no tar. as to nicotine that is the % of it in the tobacco

There may be tar in coals because they burn.

yeah i agree with you here. tar is created when (pretty much) any organic substance is burnt. it's possible that the igniting of the coals can cause some tar to develop...so don't use quicklights. i used one today cause i didn't wanna wait 6 minutes for a few more nats to light up...eeeeew. ruined the session. as bradedup once said: "quicklights are like drinking warm beer".

also, yeah. all coals give off CO when lighting, but if they're lit all the way then there is no harm.

i said ther may be tar. there probably is a slight amount. there would have been alot produced when the coals were made though. also i amm %100 sure ther are some level of carcinogens in coals, most notably QL's.

I don't care if the is a minuscule amount of tar and a small amount of nicotine in my shisha, it tastes yummy, and it relaxes me. Thats all I care about : )

and honestly, the only way to not get anything bad in your lungs is to live in a bubble. living in a city even is horrid for you (i have heard supposedly a 40 year old non smoker and a 40 year old smoker in the city have the same lungs if both of them have lived there their whole lives, not sure how true it is but wouldnt surprise me much with all the crap in the air)

hookah is probably not good for you lungs buts it relaxes you and frankly with all the stress is our lives to day i think relaxation is a better thing

Nicotine is always in the leaves, it's a natural chemical stimulant.

Tar is produced when it tobacco is burned. When smoking a hookah (here in the states), one doesn't burn much tobacco at all - the only thing that can be caught from a filter (I used one on my hookah a couple time to show people it's nothing like a cigarette filter after you are done smoking) is a bit of shisha residue; a greasy, glycerin-type coating that has a slight water content.

This thread is filled with conjecture. The truth is we don't know what tar is inhaled with hookah as there have not been enough reliable studies done on it. Smoking is bad for you. If that concerns you then quit.

I dunno about that. the reason cigarettes are seen as so bad is because they started killing people off and they found out why and it ended up being the poisons in cigarettes.

Cigars, pipes and pipe tobacco have not been prove to kill because not enough people have died if any for anyone to care.
